2. Experience Moo Baan Dek's life

MBD is a community of varied activities, intellectually and manually, in which all participants are encouraged to join. We have at least six workshops that you can take part. Be aware of what a most prominent Indian and Gadhian thinker and practitioner, Vinoba Bhave, had to say that

"The separation of learning from labor results also in social justice. Some people do nothing, but study and others nothing but hard labor, and as a result society is split in two. Those who earn their bread by manual labor form one social class and those who do only intellectual work form another. In India, manual laborers are paid one rupee a day, intellectual workers are paid twenty-five or thirty rupees. A very great injustice has been done by rating the value of manual and intellectual labor so differently. And it is the abolition of such injustice that must be the goal of our education."

So let's join and work together!!!

Batik making: learn and experience the most colorful part of MBD with the teachers and the students who make beautiful scarves.
Ceramic: Mold, paint and kiln your own works with the students.
Carpentry: Make woodworks that combine aesthetics and functionality.
Weaving: Handloom weaving is a great experience here. We will also have Japanese-made compact handlooms to make together a human tapestry. Bring with you your ideas and imaginations!
Dressmaking: Learn to make dresses from your batik works.
Natural Farming: We have a big garden grown with non-chemical vegetables. Sweat and have fun!

Please note that all workshops, except farming, take place in the afternoon (around 1300-1600). Those who want to join farming have to get up as early as 0630 when they get started in the field.

Apart from this, we welcome any activities proposed by participants, preferably before the gathering so as to ease logistics.

3. Networking: This part stems from the awareness of the importance of being connected with each other. Whereas in North America, there are several networks in alternative education, such as the National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools (NCACS), etc., or IDEC at the international level, we do not have much networking within Asia and among the Southern countries. Let's play together, get to know each other and forge our ties.
